Pitchside paint fun and a right Eaton Mess raises £500

Pitchside paint fun and a right Eaton Mess!

Stephen Brown's quizzical expression at my first question of the day suggested a reaction of confusion at best, incredulity at worst.

"Are you allowed to throw paint at the kids? You're __supposed_ to throw paint at the kids, "he gasped, clearly wondering what part of the words 'colour' and 'run' I'd misunderstood.

Fifteen minutes later, there was no secret about anyone's agenda; these youngsters, an excited and sporty group representing primary schools all over Ballymena, were not only permitting me to turn them into mini Smurfs (apologies, mums and dads) - they were begging for it.

Helping out with and supporting local Colour Runs is just one of the many initiatives Ballymena Runners are involved with, and all the efforts today secured £500 being raised for Ballymena Rugby Football Club's Mini Rugby Squad, which was held at Eaton Park.

Well done Stephen and Harry for organising and supervising this portion of the Club's day of events, and ensuring every child left with a Ballymena Runners medal, a happy smile, and enough pink and blue paint in their hair to potentially clog up every home plumbing system in Ballymena.

A great afternoon, and further proof if needed how we don't just run the town - we 'ruck' it!
